French Quarter, New Orleans

It was hard to leave San Francisco, but I am really happy to be staying with my friend fr Auggie, of the Southern Dominican Province.

This meant that it was easy to hop on the streetcar…

.,,and head to the home of jazz…

The famous French Quarter.

To my great relief it is unseasonably cool here…

…at around 28 degrees Celsius.

I had red beans, followed by beignets for lunch…

…and reflected…

…on just how fortunate I am!

Return to Ronda

The last few months have been a bit rough on the health front, so it’s been a delight to be on my travels again. First stop was glorious Ronda, staying in a hotel with it’s own cinema. A fantastic pizza was had… ….Christmas lights were admired… …a sunset revelled in… …but Ronda is all about the gorge (and bullfighting, Hemlingway and Orson Welles)… …and the amazing bridges. And a very poetic carpark.

Corbigny past and present

Itˋs still too damn hot, but I managed a trip out to Corbigny, where there is a lovely toy shop… …interesting mediaeval bits and pieces… …fun shop signs… …a great place to drink coffee and watch the world go by… …suitably mad French cars… …and baffling street furniture… …and a chilling reminder that not that long ago, people like you and me were taken away and annihilated. Remember them, never forget, never again.

Austria at last

In a fit of madness… …I agreed to accompany my Aged Mother on a coach trip to Austria. After two days on the coach… …we have finally arrived <phew>.
