The Cameron Highlands

I was a total tourist yesterday, and took a coach trip…

…up a very twisty, steep road…

…into the Cameron Highlands. An ‘hill station’ set up by the British to get away from the heat.

We visited…

…a strawberry farm…

…cum…

…garden centre…which gave the chance…

…to get up close and personal with some flowers.

Which was apt as we went on to visit…

…a bee farm…

…then a butterfly garden…(even I know butterflies don’t look like that).

As well as the butterflies…

…there were greedy llamas…

…succulents laid out like…

…perfect carpet squares…

…and pretty flowers!?!

We had lunch at the golf club…

…visited a tea plantation (which I’ll give a blog if its own)…

…and had a look at a waterfall…

…then made our way…

…back down the twisty road…

…and back to the city.

Return to Ronda

The last few months have been a bit rough on the health front, so it’s been a delight to be on my travels again. First stop was glorious Ronda, staying in a hotel with it’s own cinema. A fantastic pizza was had… ….Christmas lights were admired… …a sunset revelled in… …but Ronda is all about the gorge (and bullfighting, Hemlingway and Orson Welles)… …and the amazing bridges. And a very poetic carpark.

Corbigny past and present

Itˋs still too damn hot, but I managed a trip out to Corbigny, where there is a lovely toy shop… …interesting mediaeval bits and pieces… …fun shop signs… …a great place to drink coffee and watch the world go by… …suitably mad French cars… …and baffling street furniture… …and a chilling reminder that not that long ago, people like you and me were taken away and annihilated. Remember them, never forget, never again.

Austria at last

In a fit of madness… …I agreed to accompany my Aged Mother on a coach trip to Austria. After two days on the coach… …we have finally arrived <phew>.
